Timeshare Beach Properties

Many people own a “timeshare”, which allows them the use of a house, condominium, resort, or vacation club at certain times. Once such property is the Hilton Grand Vacation Club.

This timeshare property is located on Ocean Drive, close to South Beach, Miami, FL. It is considered an “older” property; and there are a few disadvantages associated with its age.

For example, most units do not face the beach. Rather, the view is that of another hotel property.

There is also no on site parking at the resort, and valet parking is $22 per night. Fortunately, there is a parking garage approximately one block away that charges a rate of $8 per day.

The suites have some nice amenities, including a full-size refrigerator/freezer and many small cooking appliances. The 26” TV and a DVD player in one suite were located on a very attractive chrome and black unit.

Bedrooms can be quite small, and will most likely consist of a queen-size bed, a chest of drawers, and a very, very small TV. There is a closet, which contains an in-room safe. The bathroom may very well the loveliest room in the entire suite!

The walls are extremely thin, and do little to cushion sound from adjoining rooms. This is more likely due to the property’s age.

If one is not careful, and does not pay close attention, a lot of “hidden” expenses will appear on the bill. For instance, an automatic $22.50 per day charge for maid service may be added to one’s credit card, along with a $200 deposit. This amount, however, will be refunded, minus any incurred expenses, at the end of the stay, and if one presses the issue strongly enough, the $22.50 per day maid charge might also be waived. As a general rule, however, timeshares should not have many, if any, such charges.
